ABOUT ME
I am Tejai Beulah Howard, PhD. I am a spiritual director, historian, and educator. As an interfaith, inter-spiritual spiritual companion, I work with clients who want to experience more joy, freedom, creativity, and authenticity as human beings and who want to deepen their vibe with the Divine and the Ancestors. I do this work by listening to my clients, asking them reflective questions, engaging in spiritual practices together, and learning more about history with them. I believe that history is a useful tool to inspire and motivate spiritual and social change. As your spiritual companion, I would love to walk your unique inward journey with you. How Does Spiritual Companionship Work?
My primary work is to listen to you and your story. I will also ask introspective questions to help you work through the specific spiritual issues that you bring to the session. I’m also here to witness your discernment process and support you in your practice of the rituals that guide you in experiencing more of the Divine in your everyday living. I’m not here to provide answers for you. I am here to accompany you as you arrive at your own answers about your spirituality, faith, and belief systems.
What Does History Have to Do with It?
Carter G. Woodson, the founder of Black History Month, once said, “Those who have no record of what their forebears have accomplished lose the inspiration which comes from the teaching of biography and history.” As a trained historian, I believe that I have a duty to ensure that people do not lose the inspiration that comes from studying biographies and history. History is important to our spiritual development. In addition to one-on-one spiritual directions appointments, you or your group can contact me for a specialized course on a “great ancestor” or “spiritual leader,” such as Howard Thurman, Fannie Lou Hamer, Maya Angelou, and others.

I welcome all individuals, regardless of religious and spiritual background, race, color, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, age, or status, in private or group sessions. All meetings are safe, sacred, and confidential.
